What to do if You are Getting Spam Text Messages on your iPhone

Spam text messages are annoying and they cost you money. If you call AT & T and tell them that you are getting spam text messages on your iPhone, you will probably be given these options:

Option 1: Sign up for AT & T's web-based service that lets you block numbers. This was not a good solution for me because I was receiving text spam messages from a different number each time.

Option 2: Sign up for the 200 messages/month plan (if you don't already have a text messaging plan). But here the question remains: why should I be paying for these spam messages?

Option 3: Turn off text messaging on your iPhone.

Option 4: Change your cell phone number.

After insisting that these options offered by AT & T for dealing with text spam were unacceptable for me, the customer service representative set up a call before the end of the next billing cycle. Somebody is supposed to call me so that I can report the phone numbers that are sending spam and get credit for those text messages.

In order to prevent spammers to get your cell phone number, give it out wisely, especially when you shop. Once it's on a spam list, it becomes a hassle.
